Bihar rode on a century by S Nandy to beat Orissa by 10 wickets on the second day of their three-day East Zone Ranji Trophy match at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur today. This was Orissas the sixth defeat in eight Ranji Trophy matches against Bihar.
Put into bat, Orissa were all out for 157. In reply, Bihar made 232 to take a lead of 75 runs. The home team clinched victory by dismissing Orissa for 83 in the second innings and knocking off the required nine runs in the first over, without losing any wicket.
Among Orissa players, Bisuddhananda Jena batted well in both the innings, hitting 79 and unbeaten 38. Ashokananda Jena also contributed a notable 35 in the first innings. In the bowling department, debutant Rajayya Bosi and captain N N Swamy captured five and four wickets respectively.
As many as six players made their first-class debut for Orissa in this match. Other five were: wicket-keeper Bibekananda Jena, P Patnaik, GS Rao, J Sahu and NBK Murthy.
